The announcement comes after months of discussions about whether to renew the lease at the association’s current 200 S. Michigan Ave. location, or relocate.

A working group reviewed the options, and ultimately determined the move to the iconic building which serves as the National Association of REALTORS® headquarters was the best fit. The REALTOR® building, at 430 N. Michigan Ave, is in close proximity to the Wrigley Building and Tribune Tower.

The association is working on building the new space this summer. According to the association’s website:

“We believe that the move to 430 N. Michigan will allow us to better leverage the resources provided by the National Association of REALTORS®. The downtown area allows for ready availability of parking, public transportation and amenities for our members, students and staff. While this location is near the majority of our members who are located downtown and on the near north side, it also provides the most robust transportation options for all of our members.”

The association says the transition will result in technology upgrades and a better design. The association’s school will also make the move to the REALTOR® building, which was built in 1963.

CAR has been at the South Michigan Avenue location for about 11 years. The association has a FAQ about the move here.
