Earlier this month, several members of the North Shore-Barrington Association of REALTORS® (NSBAR) visited the Hope Union Heritage Center in Northbrook for the dedication of the building’s new drinking water system.

As part of NSBAR’s ongoing support of the church’s restoration, a donation was presented to the Northbrook Historical Society. In honor of the Illinois Bicentennial, NSBAR is supporting the restoration efforts at the 123-year-old Hope Union Church.

“The North Shore-Barrington Association of REALTORS® has served the Northbrook community for nearly 100 years,” said NSBAR CEO Steve Volkodav. “Working with the Northbrook Historical Society as we celebrate the Illinois Bicentennial is a perfect opportunity to not only honor our great state but also the volunteers who built it.”

The Christian Science Society donated the building to the local historical society in January 2018, after nearly six decades of ownership.

NSBAR has a second Bicentennial Legacy Project, supporting the Barrington History Museum.

NSBAR represents more than 3,700 residential and commercial real estate professionals throughout the North Shore-Barrington community. Since 1919, the association has been the area’s leading advocate for private property rights and a healthy real estate environment.

(Twenty-nine local REALTOR® associations have undertaken service projects and fundraising efforts for historic properties throughout Illinois.  On Aug. 26, the state association plans to open Bicentennial Plaza – A REALTOR® Community Partnership in Springfield. The pedestrian walkway which links Springfield’s historic sites will feature interpretive exhibits of people, places and events which connect with Abraham Lincoln’s vision for a nation of equal opportunity for all. The Plaza’s grand opening is a Signature Event of the state’s Bicentennial Commission’s celebration of the birthday milestone.)
