The Champaign County Association of REALTORS® (CCAR) annual Bundles of Warmth program has provided 272 new blankets to nine area charities and nonprofit organizations.
“Winter is upon us and there are many who are struggling to keep warm when temperatures drop. CCAR, through its Bundles of Warmth program, is helping to provide that added warmth to needy individuals and families in the Champaign County area,” said Max McComb, president of the Champaign County Association of REALTORS®. “The program has been in existence for close to 25 years and demand has increased in that time as has the total number of blankets we donate each year.”
The Champaign County area organizations receiving blankets include:
- Salt and Light,
- Restoration Urban Ministries,
- Empty Tomb,
- Times Center,
- Circle of Friends,
- Family Services of Champaign County,
- Crisis Nursery,
- Courage Connection and
- the C-U@Home Emergency Shelter.
The blankets were purchased at the Savoy Walmart which waived the collection of all sales taxes.
McComb joined other REALTOR® and affiliate members of the CCAR Member Involvement in personally presenting the blankets to the nine different charities in advance of the winter season. CCAR solicits donations from members during the year to support the program.
“Our members are personally involved in helping to support and raise funds to support the Bundles of Warmth program each year,” said McComb.
Linda Green is the Association Executive for CCAR. The 2018 officers include: President Max McComb, President-elect Eric Porter, Treasurer-secretary Julie Roth and Immediate Past President Jim Waller.
