There’s some good news on the Illinois foreclosure front as foreclosure activity in the Chicago area fell last year to levels not seen in years, the Chicago Tribune reports today in the article, “New foreclosure filings show big decline.”
Last year, overall foreclosure activity in the Chicago area fell to the lowest levels since 2008 and in Cook County new filings were down to 2006 levels, the newspaper reports.
The improving foreclosure picture varies with some neighborhoods and areas seeing faster or slower recovery, but overall the drop in new activity and the fact that more existing foreclosures are working through the system signals some long-awaited good news.
