UPDATE: As Illinois moves into Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois plan, there is new guidance allowing open houses and the showing of tenant-occupied properties effective May 29, 2020. Find the new guidance and industry best practices under Illinois REALTORS® COVID-19 FAQs.
REALTORS® should take note that the existing Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) guidance previously issued to clarify Governor J.B. Pritzker’s original “stay-at-home” order(s) remains in effect at this time, even after the governor extended the order to remain in effect until May 30, 2020, with some modifications:
- Open houses are still prohibited
- Showings for tenant occupied rental units are still prohibited
- IF in-person showings are performed in a vacant or owner-occupied property, social distancing and cleansing methods must be observed.
In addition, under the extension order, masks must be worn in public by anyone over the age of two where social distancing measures cannot be observed.
