REALTORS® Deena Zimmerman, Winnie Stortzum, John Patrick McDermott and Mark Cosenza share their insights into retail, farm, office/industrial and multifamily sectors of the commercial real estate market in 2017 in an April Illinois REALTOR® article.
In “Commercial Corner: What’s ahead for the commercial market?” Zimmerman says brick and mortar retail stores will have staying power despite the surge in e-commerce. Stortzum says land values usually follow suit with profitability and she believes farm income will remain steady unless severe weather issues arise. McDermott touts the diversity of office and industrial real estate in the state as a strength, and he observes different strengths in the Chicago business district, suburban areas and the rest of the state. Cosenza is optimistic that rental increases will slow down but remain competitive.
