At the close of every license renewal cycle, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) conducts a continuing education audit.

If IDFPR determines you have insufficient credits to maintain your license, you will receive an email notification of the deficiency.

Do not ignore this email! You must respond to a deficiency notice within 60 days to avoid disciplinary action including substantial fines.

What to do if you receive a deficiency notice from IDFPR

  • If you have evidence of compliance, you may submit copies of your certificates of course completion to IDFPR.
  • If you have insufficient credits, you must immediately complete all necessary courses to satisfy the deficiency. The best course of action is to forward your deficiency notice email to [email protected] and include your phone number. Our Education Team will gather the  necessary information to help you correct the deficiency as quickly as possible.
  • Once you have satisfied the requirements to correct the deficiency, submit copies of your certificates of course completion with a late fee of $25 per credit hour to IDFPR. Your submission will not be reviewed or considered until payment is received by check or money order.

Be sure to update your email address with IDFPR regularly to ensure that you receive all notifications.

Completing your continuing education requirements in a timely fashion during each renewal cycle will help your license remain in good standing.
