Members of the Egyptian Board of REALTORS® (EBOR) showed their support last week for the Southern Illinois Coalition for the Homeless by donating $3,250 to help purchase Christmas gifts for children.
The gift was the result of a fundraising campaign that began in early November, with donations used to help children served by the nonprofit organization. This year, 34 children will receive Christmas gifts, says EBOR Association Executive Charay Palmer.
“This nonprofit organization covers the 24 southernmost counties in Illinois,” says Palmer. “The families in the program are working with SICH to improve their housing situation. Many are considered homeless. Usually, there is no money available for parents to purchase gifts for their children. That is, until the members of our REALTOR® association stepped in.
“It’s our way of saying to our communities, REALTORS® care,” she says.
Officers for the Egyptian Board of REALTORS® are: Teresa Camarato (Property with TLC in Herrin), president; Suzanne Wood (Coldwell Banker, Allen & Geary in Centralia), president-elect; and Cindy Bevis (RE/MAX Elite in Mt. Vernon), secretary/treasurer.
