Illinois REALTORS® will undertake three construction projects for Habitat for Humanity in 2014.
IAR president Phil Chiles said the first house to be built will be in Murphysboro, Ill., in May. That construction project will be followed by two others, one in Springfield, Ill., and another in the Fox Valley area. He made the comments at IAR’s December board meeting held in Springfield Dec. 10.
IAR has committed $40,000 to each of the building projects, and efforts are underway to raise an additional $40,000 for each home.
“We hope that local associations will provide lots of boots on the ground,” Chiles said.
Chiles has a long track record with working on Habitat builds. He’s helped at a number of National Association of REALTOR® building projects, and he’s been part of IAR’s efforts to build homes along the Gulf Coast in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
