Rockford REALTOR® Dick Crosby, husband of Rockford REALTOR® Jean Crosby, died Sept. 14 at the age of 92.

Crosby, a broker for Berkshire Hathaway HomeService in Rockford, became a REALTOR® in 1983 and got involved in association activities on the local, state and national levels. He served the Rockford Area REALTORS® for nearly 45 years and became its president in 1987.

In 1993, he served as the Illinois REALTORS® president, but his work on state committees started in 1979 and continued through 2020. In 1997, he was named as the association’s REALTOR® of the Year. Crosby chaired six different committees for the state association, serving at least one term as chair of its Executive Committee, Nominating Committee, Finance Committee, Advisory Council, Major Donor Working Group and Economic Working Group.

In 2015, he was awarded REALTOR® Emeritus status by the National Association of REALTORS® after reaching 40 years of association membership.

Dick and Jean married in 1988 and both enjoyed successful real estate careers, with Jean also involved with association activities on the local, state and national levels, too. Jean was the Illinois REALTORS® president in 1999, REALTOR® of the Year in 2002 and received a Presidential Medallion in 2018. She’s a current member of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Board of Directors and an NAR Distinguished Service Award recipient.
