The steady growth of Illinois home prices continued in 2019 with the annual median sales price climbing to $208,965, a 30.6 percent increase since 2014. And despite a slight 2019 decline in Illinois home sales, the state’s year-end total sales tracked 6.5 percent higher than five years ago, according to the 2019 Annual Report.

Looking just at 2019, the annual median sales price increased 3.4 percent compared to 2018 while housing inventory declined 8.2 percent. Statewide annual closed home sales totaled 156,937, down 2.6 percent from 2018.
