Last night the Illinois Association of REALTORS® celebrated a new transition in leadership as REALTOR® Sheryl Grider Whitehurst, ABR, CRB, e-PRO, GRI, was installed as the 2011 president of our state association representing 46,000 Illinois REALTORS®.
Whitehurst is a 29-year veteran of the real estate business and is the Development and Operations Coordinator for Traders Realty in Peoria.
“This year I challenge you to think with an innovative spirit so we can continue to set the pace for our industry,” said Whitehurst in an acceptance speech in which she urged REALTORS® to be vocal and active advocates for the industry and homeownership.
“I hope we motivate each other towards personal and professional growth…knowing the relationships we build today can leave a legacy for a better tomorrow. That we continually innovate better systems and tools. That we take the time to celebrate our successes,” she said.
REALTOR® Loretta Alonzo, CRB, GRI, of Romeoville, was installed as IAR’s 2011 president-elect. Alonzo is the broker-owner of Century 21 Alonzo & Associates in La Grange Park.
REALTOR® Michael D. Oldenettel, CRS, GRI, of Jacksonville, managing broker-owner of RE/MAX Results Plus in Jacksonville was installed as the 2011 treasurer of the Illinois Association of REALTORS®.
Immediate Past President Mike Onorato, GRI, broker-owner of Onorato Real Estate in Coal City, will continue to lend his expertise on the IAR Leadership Team after serving as president in 2010.
