About 100 members and affiliate members of the Kankakee-Iroquois-Ford Association of REALTORS® (KIFAR) gathered at their annual Christmas party in December so they could donate the proceeds to five local nonprofit organizations a few days later.
“The party allows our members to enjoy each other’s company and raise money for the local charities,” said KIFAR CEO Tina Franklin. “We conduct raffle drawings and a silent auction with donated items. It’s a great event.”
REALTORS® presented checks to the: local chapter of the Salvation Army, Harbor House of Kankakee County, Harbor House of Iroquois County, Hospice of Kankakee and Iroquois Memorial Hospice. They split $3,052.
“These organizations were chosen for the help that they offer to members of our local communities at a time of need, whether it be grieving of the loss of a loved one, domestic abuse or going through hard times and needing help with food and clothing,” said Franklin.
In addition to Franklin, KIFAR leaders are: President Chip Chappell of Real Living/Speckman Realty in Bourbonnais, President-elect Millie Zigtema of McColly Rosenboom Real Estate in Bourbonnais, Treasurer Bridget Bouck of McColly Bennett Real Estate in Bourbonnais and Secretary Lynn Randazzo of Real Living/Speckman Realty of Bourbonnais. KIFAR has 230 members.
