Michael D. Drews, a broker associate with Charles B. Doss & Co. in Aurora, was named the 2019 Illinois REALTOR® of the Year at the state association’s Public Policy Meetings in East Peoria today. The award honors individuals whose dedication to excellence has profoundly enhanced the industry.
In a real estate career that has spanned four decades, Drews has been active in all levels of the REALTOR® organization. In 2016, he led the statewide association as president of Illinois REALTORS®.
Drews has served as president of his local association, Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS®, and was named the local association’s REALTOR® of the Year in 2011.
He served 11 years on the Illinois REALTORS® Board of Directors and multiple terms on professional standards committees at both the state and national level.
Drews is a champion of the REALTOR® political advocacy program and is an RPAC Major Investor, an RPAC Pacesetter and a member of the RPAC President’s Circle.
He has worked to build connections with federal and state lawmakers as a Federal Political Coordinator and a State Legislative Contact. In 2011, he was honored with the state association’s Political Involvement Award.
At the national level, Drews is a long-time member of the NAR Board of Directors and now has the charge of representing not just the interests of REALTOR® members in Illinois, but also Indiana and Wisconsin as a regional vice president.
