Illinois REALTORS® were interviewed by a variety of media outlets this week to talk about the release of the March housing data and offer their perspectives on what is happening in their local markets. In the Chicago Tribune article, “Discouraged in your home search? You aren’t alone,” several Chicago-area real estate professionals talked about how low inventory and rising prices are affecting the current housing market and buying patterns.
The marketplace — particularly younger consumers — continues to be price sensitive, said REALTOR® Joe Kenny, of Realty Executives Midwest in Darien. But it’s a seller’s market for properties in the mid-range of prices and those are moving quickly, he said.
