Chicago Magazine named three REALTORS® to its “New Power 30,” a list of Chicagoans who made change happen during the last year.
Ezekiel “Zeke” Morris, Courtney Jones and Sarah Ware were chosen for their participation in a national panel that urged the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) to provide a mechanism to stem and punish those members who engage in hate speech directed at protected classes. NAR adopted a standard of practice and other provisions in its REALTOR® Code of Ethics stating that members “must not use harassing speech, hate speech, epithets or slurs based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation or gender identity” or face an ethics proceeding and possible punishment.
Morris is president-elect for Illinois REALTORS® and is the owner-designated managing broker of EXIT Strategy Realty/EMA Management in Chicago. Jones is president of the Dearborn REALTISTS® and a broker for Chicago Homes Realty Group. Ware is principal and managing broker for Ware Realty Group, LLC in Chicago.
