The Goldie Initiative announced 25 scholarship winners this month, including Illinois REALTORS® Local Governmental Affairs Director (GAD) Adriann Murawski.
Murawski receives a $7,500 scholarship, mentoring from a senior commercial real estate professional, customized leadership development training and exposure to networking opportunities. She is several years into an online Master’s in Real Estate program through Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and hopes to finish her studies in May 2021. She’s also earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and political science from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in public administration from DePaul University in Chicago.
“My intention is to offer thoughtful and practical policy approaches to some challenges ahead: budget deficits, housing shortages, weather patterns and property damage,” said Murawski, who joined Illinois REALTORS® in July 2019. “While there are challenges, there are opportunities such as ending all forms of housing discrimination, building healthy communities and achieving net zero energy buildings.”
As a local GAD, she protects the interests of REALTORS® and the rights of private property owners when she interacts with Cook County government and in other municipalities. She is thankful for the support her husband Nick provides, which allows her to divide her time between work and study.
Prior to joining Illinois REALTORS®, Murawski worked as a state and local government affairs representative for the National Association of REALTORS®.
The Goldie Initiative Scholarship Program was created in 2007 by Goldie B. Wolfe Miller, a renowned commercial real estate broker and entrepreneur. The Goldie Initiative supports women pursuing graduate level studies in business with a focus on real estate and it prepares women for senior leadership roles in commercial real estate. This year’s program includes 25 recipients.
