Rent control doesn’t work and better solutions are available, according to a pair of economists interviewed on National Public Radio this morning.
Rebecca Diamond, a Stanford University economist, says Rent Control may have seemed like a good way of protecting San Francisco consumers from rent increases in the mid-90s, but over time, it reduced the amount of affordable housing in San Francisco by 25 percent.
