cullerton_bushIf you live in the 23rd or 31st Senate District, the Illinois REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) Trustees recommend you vote for state Sen. Tom Cullerton or Sen. Melinda Bush in the Nov. 8 general election.

Cullerton (23rd District) and Bush (31st) have been identified by their local associations and by RPAC as REALTOR® champions. In other words, they are for business, private property rights, low taxes and economic growth. Their bids to get elected are termed Opportunity Races.

Cullerton began his political career in 2005 as a village trustee in Villa Park before running for village president and winning in 2009. In 2012 he won the general election for senate and began serving in 2013. An Army veteran, Cullerton serves on the following committees as senator:

  • Local Government (vice chairperson);
  • Appropriations II;
  • Labor;
  • State Government & Veterans Affairs;
  • Transportation;
  • Committee of the Whole; and
  • Energy and Public Utilities.

He is chair for the Subcommittee on Special Issues.

Bush

Born and raised in Lake County, Bush previously served on the Forest Preserve Board, as a Grayslake village trustee and on the Lake County Board. In 2012, she was elected to the Illinois Senate. She lives in Grayslake with husband, Andy.

A Grayslake resident, Bush serves on the following committees as a state senator:

  • Commerce and Economic Development (vice chairperson);
  • Environment and Conservation;
  • Revenue;
  • State Government & Veterans Affairs;
  • Committee of the Whole;
  • Human Services; and
  • Education.

She also serves on these subcommittees:

  • EPA 111(d) Requirements;
  • Charter Schools; and
  • Information Sharing.
