The Peoria Area Association of REALTORS® (PAAR) is running a series of print and digital media advertisements during November and December to raise awareness about fair housing issues.
“Fair housing promotes the dream of homeownership for everyone,” says Illinois REALTORS® Local Governmental Affairs Director Kristie Engerman. That is the message (PAAR) is promoting to its members and to consumers in the greater Peoria area, she says.
Additionally, the PAAR hosted a virtual fair housing educational event for its members on Nov. 17. Guest speaker for the event was St. Louis-area REALTOR® Nate Johnson who addressed the history and evolution of the Fair Housing Act and its impact on society.
Johnson, ABR, CIPS, CRS, GRI, SRES, is the president of Real Estate Solutions at Red Key Realty Leaders. He was president of the St. Louis Association of REALTORS® and has chaired several of its committees including the Equal Opportunity/Cultural Diversity and the Urban Affairs committees. He was chairman of the Missouri Association of REALTORS®’ Economic Development Council and the association’s 2018 president. He’s been the president of the board of directors for the Metropolitan St. Louis Equal Housing Opportunity Council and he’s earned the At Home with Diversity (AHWD), One America certification.
Funding for the media ads was provided by the Illinois REALTORS®’ RVoice Program, and the fair housing education event was funded by an NAR Fair Housing Grant.
