Our 2016 Illinois REALTOR® President Mike Drews wears another hat in his service to the industry.  As Federal Political Coordinator (FPC) for U.S. Representative Randy Hultgren, he conveys the REALTOR® position on our NAR priority issues.

During the month of August, when the U.S. Congress is in recess, many of our FPCs schedule in-district meetings with their senators and representatives. With the help of some of his contact team members, Sue Wiskowski Fair, Ron Ewing and Sue Miller, Drews coordinated the meeting at Rep. Hultgren’s Campton Hills office.  They discussed tax policy and financial services.  Since Rep. Hultgren sits on the House Financial Services committee, he has a unique ability to foster discussions on Capitol Hill on items such as housing finance reform, access to credit and capital for example.

Each member gave the congressman the “lay of the land” in terms of the real estate market for areas that they specialize. One of the priorities of the Illinois REALTORS® when determining federal contact teams is to attempt to have members who live and work in a cross-section of areas within the district. This helps give our members of Congress a sense for the nuances in the different markets within each district. The members of Congress appreciate these updates and getting the pulse of their district through our member expertise.
