Thirteen candidates won in Tuesday’s consolidated election with extra assistance from Illinois REALTORS®.

The winners included three mayors, eight city council members, one village trustee and one community college board member. Nine were re-elected and the rest were challengers or vying for open seats.

In addition to direct contributions, the candidates received Independent Expenditures from Illinois REALTORS® in the form of direct mail and digital ads to encourage registered voters to choose the REALTOR®-backed candidates. By law, Independent Expenditures cannot be coordinated with a candidate’s campaign.

The following REALTOR®-backed candidates won Tuesday:

• Incumbent Champaign Mayor Deb Feinen,
• Incumbent Country Club Hills Mayor James Ford,
• Park Forest Mayor Jonathan Vanderbilt,
• Incumbent Chicago Aldermen James Cappelman (46^th Ward), Ray Lopez (15^th Ward), Greg Mitchell (7^th Ward) and Ariel Reyboras (30^th Ward),
• Chicago City Council newcomers Stephanie Coleman (16^th Ward) and Samantha “Sam” Nugent (39^th Ward),
• Incumbent Peoria City Council member and REALTOR® Zack Oyler,
• Incumbent Naperville City Council member Patty Gustin,
• Orland Park Village Trustee Cindy Nelson-Katsenes and
• Incumbent Rockford Rock Valley College Board Patrick Murphy.

Sixty-five percent of candidates who received Independent Expenditure support from Illinois REALTORS® during the Feb. 26 consolidated primaries and the April 2 consolidated elections succeeded in their election bids.
