Women are buying homes at an increasing rate, according to a study from real estate agency Compass and mortgage lender Better.com.
That’s one of the takeaways from an article in the Chicago Tribune, “More single women are buying homes – and Chicago is one of the best cities for it: study.”
The study notes that Chicago is No. 3 on the list of cities for women to be homeowners, shows an increase in the numbers of women who buy and sell their homes, explains how technology can enhance the process and provides advice to help women who want to buy homes.
Eighty percent of surveyed Compass agents reported an increase in the number of women who provided the primary source of income when buying a home. Of the married women who secured a loan from Better.com in the last 12 months, 33 percent did not list a spouse on the application.
