Illinois REALTORS® President-elect Dan Wagner appeared on a podcast to talk about the work he is doing to help association members better understand the value of including conservation-friendly land management in development.

Wagner appeared on the Let’s Talk Land program hosted by Lou Jewell, president and owner United Country Real Estate in Pilot Mountain, N.C.

Wagner also outlined how conservation easements work. These are voluntary agreements where a property owner can permanently restrict land use to protect conservation value.

Conservation easements can result in tax advantages under the federal tax code.

Also important, they can greatly enhance the quality of life in a community, Wagner said.
