Illinois REALTORS® board member and Chicago Association of REALTORS® president Dan Wagner was named 2017 treasurer-nominee for the state association.
An Illinois REALTORS® Board of Directors vote is expected to formally place Wagner on the leadership ladder later this year. Wagner’s selection by the association’s Nominating Committee was announced Tuesday, April 5, 2016 by former association president Michael Oldenettel.
Wagner is a REALTOR® and works as senior vice president for government relations for the Inland Real Estate Group of Companies. He’s played numerous roles with the state association, including currently serving on the Global Working Group, the Commercial and Industrial Committee, Public Policy and Government Affairs Member Involvement Group and the RPAC Trustees.
At the NAR level, Wagner is is chair of the Commercial Legislative and Regulatory Advisory Board and serves as 2016 Commercial Liaison. Wagner is the 2016 president of the Chicago Association of REALTORS®, and has held numerous roles in that organization as well.
Wagner is a commissioner with the DuPage County Airport Authority and is chairman of the Oakbrook Chamber of Commerce.
A REALTOR® since 2005, Wagner has worked at the local, state and national levels to promote the preservation of the federal 1031 Like Kind Exchange rules which ease the handling of commercial property reinvestment. He’s a passionate advocate of private property rights, and is heavily involved in the association’s government affairs efforts.
Once the nominating committee’s selection is sanctioned by the association’s board of directors, Wagner will join other Illinois REALTOR® leaders in 2017, including Doug Carpenter, who will become president; Matt Difanis, who will become president-elect and Mike Drews, who will be immediate past president.
