Illinois State Comptroller Susana Mendoza addressed the Public Policy Forum at Illinois REALTORS® Fall Business Meetings, to discuss “the state of the state” in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In light of the nationwide diversity and inclusion dialogue, this forum provided an in-depth discussion of implicit bias and how to promote diversity and provide fair housing equally and consistently. Illinois REALTORS® 2020 Business Issues Forum Chair Jeff Gregory and Vice Chair Sarah Ware were joined by REALTOR® panelists, Nate Johnson, Jasmyn Jefferson and Michelle Walker, in examining the history of segregation and other systemic issues. They also tackled the persistence of racial injustice in our nation and outlined concrete actions that REALTOR® associations, brokerage companies and real estate professionals can take now to collectively and individually turn this tide.
