Plaintiffs entered into rental agreements with Defendant and were not required to pay a security deposit. Plaintiffs filed a class action complaint against Defendant alleging a violation of the Chicago Residential Landlord and Tenant Ordinance because Defendant landlord did not provide them with a required security deposit summary.

Takeaways:

The Court held that the Plaintiffs did not have standing to bring the complaint in that they can allege no injury. Plaintiffs were not required to provide a security deposit and Defendant’s failure to provide the security deposit interest information could in no way harm the Plaintiffs.
