Chris Seniker may have won election as a Brighton village trustee in April 2015, but the residents who voted for him probably knew his name well before the election.

That’s because Seniker had already made a name for himself as a REALTOR® headquartered in Edwardsville and as a volunteer firefighter for Brighton. He began working as a REALTOR® in 1997, following in his father’s footsteps and joining his father (Bill Seniker) in the business. He began volunteer firefighting in 2001.

Serving his community is important to Seniker, who believes that REALTORS® develop an appreciation for sharing their talents to make their communities better places to live.

“As REALTORS®, we are challenged to not only help clients buy or sell homes but to make the community stronger by giving back however we can,” he says. “We are the voice of real estate and if we remain silent and refuse to get involved, our communities will suffer.”

Seniker said he recently retired from firefighting after 14 ½ years because of the time commitment for serving as a village trustee and police commissioner. In addition to his volunteer work for the village, Seniker has volunteered for the Toys for Kids campaign. “I enjoy seeing the faces of small children who will have a nice Christmas,” he says. “That’s what it is all about.”

Seniker has become involved in the local REALTOR® association – the Greater Gateway Association of REALTORS®, chairing several committees and serving as president in 2006 and 2014. On the state level, he’s served on multiple committees during the last 10 years, including the State Legislative Contacts Working Group, RPAC Trustees (vice chairman) and the REALTORS® Political Involvement Committee this year. He is the state legislative contact for Illinois Senator Andy Manar.

He appreciated the support given to him during his election campaign in 2015. Cited as an REALTOR® champion by the RPAC Trustees for his pro-business, pro-private property rights, low tax and pro-growth positions on issues that affect real estate business, Seniker received support from Illinois REALTORS® prior to the election.

He is a broker associate at Coldwell Banker Brown Realtors in Edwardsville, along with his wife, Sarah Seniker, and his dad. His aunt, Rhonda Rhodes, recently retired after serving six years as a representative for House District 70 in the Indiana General Assembly.
