Members of the Illinois General Assembly continue to hear the Illinois REALTORS®’ opposition to Rent Control through a Call for Action and through committee testimony, according to the March 15 State Capitol Report.
A vote by the House Judiciary-Civil Law Committee could come as soon as Wednesday, and Illinois REALTORS® lobbyists testified a few days ago during a subject matter subcommittee hearing. Even though more than 9,000 members have participated in the Call for Action, they are encouraging additional members to join the fight. Join the Call for Action.
The lobbying team is also monitoring many other pieces of legislation that could affect REALTORS® and private property owners, including proposals to: limit retainage provisions in commercial contracts; impose more radon hazard disclosures on landlords; and prohibit real estate brokers and agents from serving as township assessors.
