Illinois REALTORS® celebrated the failure to advance House Bill 255 out of committee as well as the progress of a real estate license law rewrite this week, according to the March 29 edition of the State Capitol Report.
Sponsors of the House Bill 255 sought to repeal the state’s Rent Control Preemption Act, and members of the House Commercial Law Subcommittee of the House Judiciary Civil Law Committee voted 2-4-1 against advancing the bill. In the weeks leading up to the vote, more than 10,000 members of Illinois REALTORS® responded to the association’s Call-for-Action on Rent Control.
In other news, the House Labor and Commerce Committee adopted an amendment and unanimously passed a bill that contains draft language for the rewrite of the Real Estate License Act. Illinois REALTORS® helped contribute to that rewrite.
