Rockford-area REALTOR® Ginger Sreenan offers a unique and varied perspective as one of nine slated candidates to the 2020 Illinois REALTORS® Board of Directors.
In June, she began a dual role as the chief executive officer for the REALTOR® Association of Northwestern Illinois (RANWIL), and as a broker for Pioneer Real Estate Services in Rockford. She limits her CEO duties to about 20 hours a week, and she focuses sales broker activities to Winnebago and Boone counties to avoid conflicts of interest.
The unique agreement allows Sreenan to maintain her involvement with the Illinois REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). And that’s fine with Sreenan, who appreciates how all these activities are connected to each other.
“Volunteering at the local, state and national levels of our association has made me more knowledgeable and well-rounded in aspects of our business that many of our members don’t realize,” says the REALTOR® of 25 years. “So many issues are developed locally and at state level that impact our business and private property owner rights. Being proactive and working with all the resources our state and national associations provide – such as our local governmental affairs directors and our NAR Advocacy Team – is amazing, and I see what a difference can be made.”
Sreenan and eight other REALTORS® are slated to join the board of directors at the Fall Business Meetings, Sept. 17-19 at the Chicago Marriott in Naperville. Her story is the seventh in the series about slated board members.
Growing through many opportunities
A past president of the Rockford Area REALTORS®, Sreenan has served on the NAR and Illinois REALTORS® Board of Directors. In fact, she’s been on the state board since 2015. She has served on numerous committees at the state level, including the Ethics Citation Panel, Illinois Bicentennial Task Force and the Local Government Independent Expenditure Committee. She’s also a past president of the Rockford chapter of the Women’s Council of REALTORS®.
Sreenan assists Federal Political Coordinator (FPC) Ed Neaves as part of the contact team for Rep. Adam Kinzinger and assists FPC David Levin as part of the contact team for Rep. Cheri Bustos. Sreenan is a former FPC, has served on several NAR committees and is one seven at-large NAR directors.
With Illinois REALTORS®, she is the State Legislative Contact for state Sen. Steve Stadelman of Rockford and was a Sterling “R” Major Investor for the REALTOR® Political Action Committee (RPAC) in 2018.
A great decision provides great satisfaction
Sreenan says she is very grateful she chose real estate as a second career 25 years ago. The decision started with her interest in architecture and floor plans and helping friends find the right homes. The momentum continued as she enjoyed learning about professional standards, advocacy, continuing education, RPAC and more.
She still gets great satisfaction helping home buyers.
“I love helping first-time buyers as well as seniors transitioning and everything in between,” Sreenan says. “I measure my success by the number of clients who have become friends and who have referred their family members and friends to me for their real estate buying and selling needs.”
