The Appraisal Institute, a global professional association for real estate appraisers, launched the Appraisal Diversity Initiative (ADI). From its website, “The initiative is intended to attract new entrants into the appraisal field, overcome barriers to entry…and to foster diversity.” The Institute has partnered with the National Urban League and Fannie Mae to carry out this mission through the Urban League’s regional Entrepreneurship Centers.
One of the Centers, located in Chicago has already fostered a local positive impact. In this video, real estate appraiser trainee, Marcus Knight, shares how the ADI caught his attention and helped him on his path to become an Appraiser. Knight, who discovered the appraisal career opportunity at the Chicago Urban League’s Entrepreneurship Center, explains what attracted him to the industry and the value of mentorship.
The National Urban League is hosting online and in-person recruiting events in the coming months. To learn more about the ADI and sign up to learn more about careers in Residential Appraisal visit the Appraisal Diversity Initiative website.
