After several months of consideration, the River Forest Village Board approved an Affordable Housing plan that provides incentives for multifamily development and will preserve the Village’s Affordable Housing stock.

Members of the Oak Park Area Association of REALTORS® were initially concerned that the River Forest Plan Commission and the Village board might require strict mandates on all new multifamily developments such as a required number of affordable units in each new development or redeveloped property as well as new development fees. REALTORS® weighed in with written comments at a June 8 virtual meeting. In the end, the River Forest Village Board approved the plan without those kinds of mandates.
