Local election authorities have the option of starting nursing home voting today, Saturday, Sunday or Monday for incapacitated voters who have already applied for vote by mail ballots for the Nov. 8 general election in Illinois.

Check the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) website to locate contact information for your local election authority. Then find out what arrangements have been made in your city or county for voting according to the Nursing Home Care Reform Act, the Specialized Mental Health Rehabilitation Act or the ID/DD Community Care Act which includes federally operated veterans’ homes and hospitals.

On days when voting is conducted at these facilities, the ISBE states voting should be held between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
