Here’s an interesting fact that you probably didn’t know. The typical American adult lives only 18 miles away from his or her mother, according to a New York Times analysis of a University of Michigan Health and Retirement Study.

And only 20 percent of people live more than a couple hours’ drive from their parents, according to the same data.
