REALTORS® can make a difference Tuesday in the 18th Congressional District as voters there will cast ballots in a special primary.

Illinois Sen. Darin LaHood, R-Peoria

The GOP primary features Darin LaHood, Mike Flynn and Donald Rients. On the Democratic side Rob Mellon and Adam Lopez are facing off.

Winners in the July Primary will face off Sept. 10.

The National Association of REALTORS® is supporting LaHood, who represents Illinois’ 37th Senate District and serves on the Senate committees on Criminal Law, Executive Appointments, Judiciary, Licensed Activities and Pension and Revenue.

LaHood has worked with REALTORS® on numerous issues relating to license law and the regulation of the real estate industry.

LaHood has worked as a federal prosecutor and was appointed to the state Senate in 2011. He was re-elected in 2012, running unopposed.

The unusual summer election cycle resulted from the resignation of former U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock who stepped aside after questions arose about his office’s spending.
